I came across a few interesting web sites that gather statistics on browser and operating system usage. These are Net Applications.com and W3Schools.
The figures vary between the two sites but if you look closer you can see both show a common market trend. Net Applications.com for example shows the Firefox browser having a market share of 12.96% for October 2006 which seems a reasonably accurate figure to me. W3Schools shows Firefox having a much higher market share of 28% for the same month, but the figures it uses are for “people with an interest for web technologies.”.
