For the last few weeks we have been playing with the Sansa Fuze MP3 player from SanDisk.
This product aims to compete with the likes of the iPod Nano. Is the Sansa Fuze a worthy competitor? We are no experts when it comes to MP3 players but we will do our best to try and help you decide.
Box Contents
This is what you get in the box. The Sansa Fuze being reviewed is the 2Gb version. SanDisk also sell a 4Gb and 8Gb version.

First Impressions
Once we took the Sansa Fuze out of the box we were impressed by the looks and how small and lightweight it is. The front sports a nice black shiny finish and the rear is made from what looks like hardened rubber.
The controls are operated using a wheel design on the front, very similar to how the iPod works. The wheel lights up blue when in use which looks nice. On the right hand side is the on/off switch and a hold button to prevent buttons from accidentally getting pressed.
On the left hand side is a micro SD slot which is a great way to expand the capacity of the Sansa Fuze, especially if you go for the cheapest 2Gb model. Next to the SD card slot is a small built-in microphone for use with the voice recorder.

Sansa Fuze Micro SD Slot
Size and weight
The Sansa Fuze has a slimline design. It’s nearest iPod competitor would be the Nano. This is how both fare up against each other from a size perspective.
Nano specs:
Height: 2.75 inches (69.8 mm)
Width: 2.06 inches (52.3 mm)
Depth: 0.26 inch (6.5 mm)
Sansa Fuze specs:
Height: 3.1 inches (78.7mm)
Width: 1.9 inches (48.2mm)
Depth: 0.3 inches (7.6mm)
As you can see the Fuze is slightly taller than the Nano, but is narrower. Depth wise they are pretty much the same.
Features
The Fuze supports the following features:
- Plays videos, music, photos and audio books
- Digital FM radio
- Voice recording with built-in microphone
- 1.9” screen 64k color, 224×176 pixels
- Up to 24 hours for audio playback and 5 hours of video playback with internal rechargeable battery
We reviewed the 2Gb model which according to the SanDisk website will give you about 6 hours video (assuming 512kbps MPEG-4 file format), or 500 songs (assuming 128kbps MP3 file format), or 1000 photos (assuming 6 megapixel JPEG photo quality).
The 8Gb model will hold about 24 hours of video, or 2000 songs, or 4000 photos. So depending on your usage you can get a rough idea which size model would suit you best.
You should be able to get about 24 hours of music playback or 5 hours of video playback before you’ll need to recharge the batteries by connecting the Fuze to your PC via USB.

Sansa Fuze SD Card and Earphones
PC Connectivity
The Fuze is connected to your PC using the provided USB cable. Once connected the Fuze will appear as an extra hard drive on your computer. MP3 files can be transferred to the Fuze by simply using copy and paste from your computer to the MUSIC folder on the Fuze.
To transfer videos and photos to the Fuze you need to first download the SanDisk Media Converter. Click the Skip Registration link if you don’t want to register. You’ll then be taken to the download page.
We ran into a few problems installing the SanDisk Media Converter on Vista. The installation failed saying there was not enough disk space on drive C even though there was 752Gb free! Vista then prompted us to install the application using the recommended settings. We tried that and the application then successfully installed.
Once installed you should have a Sansa Media Converter shortcut on your desktop. Double-click the shortcut to start the Media Converter. Inside the Media Converter application you select the files you want to transfer to the Fuze, click the Convert button, and then wait for the files to transfer.
In our tests we tried converting MPEG4 video files encoded at 378Kbps and 512Kbps and 10.2 megapixel JPEG photo files and experienced no problems.
MP3 Player
The MP3 player has a variety of features for playing tracks. You can play all tracks, recently added tracks or you can browse by artist, album, song or genre. You can play your top rated tracks or create playlists too. In addition you can play podcasts, audiobooks and voice recordings.
The Fuze supports MP3, WMA and audio book formats.
Whilst each track is playing the album art is displayed together with elapsed time and time remaining. Pressing the centre button of the scroll wheel will display a small graphic equalizer, pressing the wheel again will display the art cover in full screen. Pressing the wheel again will briefly display the next track before returning back to the first screen showing time elapsed and remaining time.
We cranked the volume up through the earphones and the Sansa Fuze delivers a pretty satisfying sound quality. It is worth experimenting with the various graphic equalizer settings discussed below to get the sounds you like.
Whilst each track is playing there is an option to add it to the Go List. This is basically a way to store favourite tracks for easy access later. There is also the option to rate each song on a scale of 1 to 5. There are also options to repeat and shuffle songs. A graphic equalizer enables you to select from Normal, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classical, Funk, Hip Hop, Dance, Full Bass, Full Treble and Custom.

Sansa Fuze MP3 Player
Video Player
We had no problems to report with the video player. The video quality was quite acceptable for a screen of this size. You can customize the video brightness, bookmark videos, and rate videos on a scale of 1 to 5. File format support appears to be limited to MPEG-4.
Radio
The Sansa Fuze includes an FM radio although there are a couple of areas that could do with improvement. We found the reception disappointing with difficulty automatically tuning into stations. Once a station had been tuned in though we found the sound quality was good, and there is the option to save presets for easy access later. The radio does not include RDS which means it cannot display the radio name whilst listening. This was a bit disappointing and is another feature we would like to see addressed in a future model.
One feature we did like is the record feature. This allows you to record whatever you’re listening to on the radio, quite useful if you want to record a favourite song.
Photos
The Fuze includes a nice looking photo album for storing your JPEG photos. The screen on the Fuze is not huge but it is big enough to appreciate photos and we found the picture quality pretty good. You can either scroll through each photo one at a time, or there is a slideshow feature. The slideshow has options to either shuffle the photos randomly or play them in sequential order. You can also specify how long each photo should be displayed for during the slideshow.
Voice Recorder
The Sansa Fuze has a built-in microphone to enable you to make voice recordings. We were quite impressed with the sound quality and had no problems to report in this area.
System Settings
There are various settings you can customize. These include things like changing the wallpaper colour, backlight display time, power saver, language, date and time and brightness. Some MP3 players can have so many settings it can be difficult to keep track of all of them, but we thought the Fuze had about the right amount of settings to keep most people happy.
Summary
Overall we like the Sansa Fuze. It is a slim, nice looking device that delivers pretty good sound and picture quality. We are no experts when it comes to MP3 players but there is nothing really to complain about, although the radio could do with some improvements.
It has a good set of features and the scroll wheel design will be familiar to iPod users and is easy to operate. The microSD card slot provides good opportunity for future expandability.
The Sansa Fuze doesn’t provide a knockout blow over the iPod. There is not much difference in price between the Sansa Fuze and iPod Nano so there is not a huge incentive for consumers to consider an alternative to the iPod.
If Sansa Fuze prices could come down further then this device could do quite well. If you’re not an iPod fan then the Fuze is definitely worth a closer look. Just take care of the flaky software installation on Windows Vista. Overall a thumbs up from us.

Hi, I’m waiting on my fuze to be delivered from Best Buy. And I’m trying to get as much info as I can about the unit, so that I won’t feel completely awkward (first real MP3) when its time to operate.
Your review is quite helpful, but you didn’t discuss video/movies in detail and how difficult/easy to download. What was the experience with files that needed another program to transfer???
Thanks, Kym
2 kymelle // Aug 20, 2008 at 6:00 pm
P.S. What was the installer CD for??? Did it contain a file transfer file or do you download that online??
3 Dean // Aug 20, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Kym,
To transfer videos and photos to the Fuze you need to first download the SanDisk Media Converter.
I ran into a few problems installing the SanDisk Media Converter on Vista. The installation failed saying I didn’t have enough disk space on drive C even though I had 752Gb free! Vista then gave me the option to install the application using the recommended settings and that worked.
Once installed you then run the Media Converter and from there you can import your photos and videos from your computer. Inside the Media Converter application you then select the files you want to transfer to the Fuze, click the Convert button, and then wait for the files to transfer.
My review doesn’t cover this very well as you mention so I will update it later.
As for the CD-ROM, it only contains the user manual. It doesn’t contain any installation software.

thanks Dean, Mine just came today and of course I couldn’t wait to get home to try out the device. So far i’m impressed with the size, power (sound) and display (clairity-bass). I’m going to run red lights (joking) to get home and download some of everything.
One small annoyance: How do you get the radio or music to stop? When I fininished listening, I couldn’t stop either from playing/scrolling at the bottom of the screen, even when looking the preloaded pics.
Thanks and Sorry to be a pest- kym
5 Dean // Aug 26, 2008 at 9:02 am
Kym,
Select the Radio option from the main screen, then press the pause button at the top of the scroll wheel.

Hi.. Good review!… Just could do with knowing if there is some sort of resume function? i.e. when listening to a long music set or an audio book…. if I was to get half way through & turned off the player would I have to go back to the beginning after turning the player back on or would it start where it previously finished?
10 dalton baker // Oct 12, 2008 at 3:21 am
sorry about the mix up dean your right its firmware update not a freeware update sorry if i confused someone
11 Dean // Oct 12, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Hi Jon,
Yes it has a resume function. It will carry on where it previously finished.
12 dalton baker // Oct 12, 2008 at 11:06 pm
has anyone had prob sometimes with the sansa video converter? sometimes it will transfer but will say its not canpatible on the sansa itself so far its been working to onvert it in a diff prog(imtoo) and then convert it agin in sansa….. is there anyway around that?
13 Cat // Oct 25, 2008 at 11:58 pm
Dear Dean,
After a mth of using sansa fuze, it happened that the fuze could no longer be detected by my computer as an external harddisk. However, charging will happen for some time before it stops charging and stays ‘connected’ as shown on the screen. Do you know how I can rectify the problem?
14 Dean // Oct 26, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Hi Cat,
Have you tried connecting the fuze to another computer to see if you get the same problem?
15 dalton baker // Oct 26, 2008 at 11:40 pm
cat,
try reformating your sansa that happended to me once and i hate 2 reformat it and its worked ever since
16 Cat // Oct 27, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Dear all,
I have tried connecting the fuze to other computer but it doesn’t work. I tried to reformat my sansa. But it still doesn’t connect. The wierd thing was that I can hear a sound made by the computer whenever you connect something to it but when you look under the computer folder, sansa fuze is not detected. Previously, it was able to connect.
Anyone can help? It has been baffling me since
17 rhonda becerra // Oct 31, 2008 at 8:09 pm
my only comment is someone should point out that with sansa you have to use rhapsody that charges your credit card monthly and will only keep your selections currents if you keep your subscription but with ipod you use itunes which does not have a subscription fee and once downloaded the song is yours for life. I vote IPOD

My Sansa Fuze 4gb – Fantastic! I am currently watching a slideshow of 153 holiday photos and listening to my music at the same time. I didn’t use the optional cropping, best fit, etc but probably would do so next time. Slideshow and music can be paused if there is a distraction and resumed quickly. I did read your review and found it useful. Think I should have waited for the 32gb model!
19 thaddeus // Nov 20, 2008 at 9:27 pm
I’m a novice at this so please be patient. If you are on page 20 of an audio book and decide to listen to some music and then go back to the book, does the fuze remember where you were or do you have to start from the begining of the book? From the above it seems to have a resume feature i.e. if you shut it off and then turn it on it goes back to where you were. But what if you do something else, like listen to the radio, inbetween audiobook listenings?
20 Dean // Nov 24, 2008 at 6:33 pm
I just tried this test. I started playing a music track, then paused the track, played part of a video, then listened to a radio station, then switched back to the music track. It carried on playing the music track from the position I had paused it. It does not go back to the beginning.

I have a new Fuze 4G and am disappointed that (1) some JPEGS will not load but most all BMPs will (me or it?). (2) am trying to find movies online to convert but VOBs won’t convert. Am I doing something wrong? I use the SMC converter that came with it. Chuck

How do you turn off the sansa fuze mp3 player?
23 Dean // Dec 26, 2008 at 9:54 am
Jayme,
Slide up the right side sliding button and hold for 2 seconds to turn off the player.

I have not been able to get the Fuze to play any files in .wma format. Syncing to the unit using Media Player and drag-and-drop have both failed. When I try and play any of the .wma files, the unit selects all of the .wma files that were downloaded and just continuously cycles through the titles. I have 2 new units both with the same problem. The preloaded mp3 files play just fine. I’m running Vista. Any suggestions?
25 Scott // Dec 27, 2008 at 4:08 am
OK. One problem solved after hours of frustration. I changed the Fuze system USB format to MSC and re-sync’d in Media Player and this resolved the issue. Now have a problem with the album artwork not showing up on the Sansa, but at least I’m downloading and playing music now.
26 kymelle // Dec 27, 2008 at 7:16 pm
Hey Scott, when you start downloading your pics and videos, use the conversion program that came with the Sansa, its so easy to use. The only thing is that you can’t drag, you have to add the files to be coverted by their file location.
27 JDinFL // Dec 31, 2008 at 7:23 pm
I really don’t care for the Rhapsody converter thing that comes with the player. It says it should be “drag and drop” and for the most part it is, but they do charge you monthly if you register.
I converted four videos to use on my son’s 8gig model with disappointing results that I believe are due to the Rhapsody converter. Only one came out clear, the rest have very scrambled pictures. Also, most of the digital pictures from our camera would “convert” to some form not even recognized by the Fuze.
Great device, VERY shakey software.
28 Chris Connell // Jan 10, 2009 at 3:57 pm
This is a truly useful, information-packed review. Much appreciated from this new Sansa Fuze user.
29 JDinFL // Jan 10, 2009 at 6:48 pm
UPDATE: I downloaded the official SanDisk Media Converter that has nothing to do with Rhapsody and it appears to be working much better. I tried 3 more videos for my son, two of them full length movies, and had 2 of them work perfectly. The third came up with the pinkish “Unsupported Media Format Please visit http://www.sandisk.com/support/sansa“.
Strangely enough, many more of the photos converted than with the Rhapsody converter, but every other one still shows the same Unsupported Media Format message. They’re just JPG’s. Why is this having such a difficult time converting?
I still really like the device, though. The only complaints with it are that you can’t create a folder for a certain type of music and have it only play that folder. It just sorts the music by artist, album, or unknown.
30 atoy // Jan 26, 2009 at 6:17 am
i tried converting and transfering a video befor and it takes me too long to complete it… but my main concern is that, is it really that slow to convert and transfer a movie to this device using the converter (SMC) or it really depends on the computers performance or what?? thanks!!
31 dalton baker // Jan 26, 2009 at 3:36 pm
hey dean i was wondering there was a new update for the sansa (2nd update) and i was wondering whats different? i know the first time i updated there was a huge difference even when just starting up my sansa but this second update i dident find anything diff.
32 dalton baker // Jan 26, 2009 at 3:40 pm
and atoy were u converting a hole movie or small clips? cause when converting any ovie to anything it takes a long time to convert but if converting small clips (5-10 min) it usealy takes me about 5 to 10 min but i find that the smc never puts them in the right format so i canvert it to xvid.avi useing the imtoo 3g video converter first and then use the smc and convert it again and i never get that prob agan but it still takes the same amout of time.
33 Dean // Jan 26, 2009 at 6:13 pm
Dalton,
You can see a list of firmware changes here.

@dalton , yeah i’ve converted and transfered a whole movie bfore to my devicebut it takes too long to fininished the whole thing, now ,is there any way to shorten this process???hehehheh..=)…how bout the computer is it really or not depends on your computers performance to do this job faster cuz back when i did this process it really sucks me up hours of waiting…well then thanks for the other info u shared…
35 Dean // Jan 27, 2009 at 8:45 am
CPU performance could be a factor in how long it takes to convert a movie. I do a bit of video editing and had to upgrade my PC to a quad-core since my old machine was too slow. What’s your PC spec like?
36 Tommy // Jan 27, 2009 at 5:13 pm
I’ve had mp3 players for years but have never put a video on one, mostly because there’s no documentation with any of them about what or how to do so. Can anyone suggest a site or something for this? Seems the format is not right or something will be wrong, and if nothing else, a movie would eat up all the storage on the player, wouldn’t it? What do you do– somehow convert a DVD to a format you can put on the player or do you download a video or what? Also I’ve yet to see what the spec’s are regrding the max capacity or type of SD media the FUZE will accept. Some older players won’t go above a 4GB card, or won’t take the SDHC media. Thanks for any suggestions regarding video on digital players!!!
37 Dean // Jan 27, 2009 at 6:58 pm
Tommy,
You might find something useful on YouTube. You could try here as a starting point.

i got a only a core2duo CPU,hmmm any idea how long it takes to convert using this CPU specs???thanks again…=)
40 Dean // Jan 28, 2009 at 6:02 pm
Not sure really. My previous PC was quite old and wasn’t even a dual-core, so when I upgraded to a quad-core I noticed a big difference. Perhaps you can find a friend with a faster PC and see if it is any faster.
41 JDinFL // Jan 29, 2009 at 4:17 pm
I have discovered another issue with the video conversion software and it appears this is not an unknown issue.
Sound lag. Most people have complained that after about 10 minutes of video the sound begins to lag behind the video. For some odd reason, I am having the opposite effect. The sound is ok, but the video seems to start lagging about 3 seconds behind. It is happening in any video over 30 minutes and gets progressively worse.
Why, oh why does the Fuze have to be so darned picky over video and photo types???
Any update on the video converter fix?
42 atoy // Feb 1, 2009 at 6:39 am
@DEAN
hmmm well ill try it some other time using my cmputers specs cuz really before my computer was a 6year old so its soo slow to convert and transfer video…
@JDinFL
i suggest you should retry to convert it again or maybe the video you’re converting is not that good in quality…

I Got a Philips GoGear, and i thought it was the most wonderful thing, but i read reveiws and they all said how they would freeze up and wouldn’t work after a while, i just got mine about 4 days ago, and it has already frozen up, so now i am about to take it back and get a sansa, i do hope this is a lot better than the philips…Thanks for the reveiw….
44 Dragonmago // Feb 16, 2009 at 8:43 pm
I’m not aware of either the media converter or the rhapsody utility. I tried to synch with Media Player 11, and it has worked ever since.
Suffice to say, I like this a lot more than the iPod
45 JDinFL // Feb 17, 2009 at 3:59 pm
The video-sound lag is apparently nothing new. The video I try to convert is one off of my own DVD so I can control the quality. That isn’t the issue.
The only way I found to fix this is to use ANOTHER video convertion tool to make it into a different file type (such as for my iPod- worth the extra $) and THEN use the Sansa media convertion tool. It works…but takes much longer.
At any rate, it’s a decent mp3 player for my son. I’ll stick with my nano.
46 Lindsey // Feb 22, 2009 at 7:57 pm
I’ve had my sansa fuze for about a year and half now and I love it, but there are two things that I still haven’t been able to fix.
For one, my album art doesn’t show up like it’s supposed to. Instead it just shows a little picture of a CD and music note or something. I guess it’s not a real big deal, but it is a feature that it’s supposed to have.
Also, the only videos I have uploaded are some from my friend’s digital camera. The video’s sound and picture don’t match up. The sound I think is ahead of the picture, (or maybe the other way around). I used the Sansa Media Converter to do this, but it’s still out of time.
47 Dean // Feb 23, 2009 at 10:36 pm
Lindsey,
Regarding the missing album artwork there are a couple of things to try.
How are you copying the music to the Fuze? What I do is go to the ‘My Music’ folder on my PC. I have all my albums organized into folders. In Windows explorer I can see the album artwork for each folder. I then copy and paste the folder for a given album to the music folder on the Fuze. I can see the album artwork when I view the album on the Fuze.
I think all of the music on my PC was burnt using Windows Media Player.
Also you could make sure you’re running the latest firmware. Comment #33 has a link to more details on this.
48 Ratbucket // Mar 11, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Just got one of these and wondered if there was a way of deleted the extra unnecessary folders I don’t need? All I want is a music folder with various subfolders underneath. I’ve tried connecting the player up to my PC and deleting the video, photo, audiobook etc folders, yet when i unplug it and switch the player on, the folders I deleted are still there!

I WAS CHARGING MY SANSA FUZE 4GB FROM MY COMPUTER AND WHEN I WENT TO UNPLUG IT THE DISPLAY ON THE SANSA FUZE SAYS “DISCONNECTED” AND IS COMPLETELY FROZEN. I HAVE TRIED TO CONNECT IT AGAIN TO MY COMPUTER BUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAPPENS.
PLEASE HELP!!!
52 Dean // Apr 7, 2009 at 7:42 am
Sheila,
Did you select the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ icon on your computer before disconnecting the Fuze?
If you just unplug the Fuze without doing this there is a risk you can lock up the Fuze.
Try resetting the device by following these steps:
1. Slide the Power switch up and hold it up for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power switch once the device is powered down.
3. Turn the device back on.
53 SHEILA // Apr 7, 2009 at 7:48 am
Thank you so much for your technical advice. I was able to reset my Fuze, as you suggested, and it is no longer frozen.

58 Dean // Apr 28, 2009 at 8:33 pm
In Windows Media Player there is a Sync button, connect your Sansa Fuze to your computer and then pressing the Sync button should work.

@ rhonda becerra (17):
You do not have to use Rhapsody with Sansa Fuze. Like Dean mentioned in the review, you can copy and paste your songs into the Sansa Fuze, just like you would copy any files from your PC to an external drive or floppy disk. Rhapsody is an optional service, but not something you have to use with Fuze, unlike iPod and their service iTunes. There’s no way you can copy music into iPod without using iTunes (unless you go for one of those 3rd party softwares). To me that’s restrictive.

I love my Sansa, but it no longer syncs to my PC, even though it did well at the start. It says that it can’t find an MTP driver. I called Sansa & they tried a few diagnostics and said it is probably the PC. I do not know how to fix this & can’t add any new music to my Sansa. PLEASE help! Thanks!

Hi Susan,
Did your Sansa come with an installation CD? You could try reinstalling the Sansa software and drivers from the CD and see if that fixes it.
If not, try using a friend’s PC and see if you get the same problem. This will help narrow down whether the problem is with your computer or the Sansa itself.

Is it possible to copy music from my old Sansa to my new computer?
67 Dean // Dec 11, 2009 at 5:00 pm
If you connect your Sansa to your new computer it should appear as a new device which you can browse from your computer. You should be able to locate the music on your Sansa and copy it across to the new computer.

Jessica,
Have a look on the Sansa download page.
There are also links to the Sansa forums and customer support on that page if you have no luck finding the software you need.

Dean,
im trying to load music onto my sansa fuze using an aplication that came with my computer, byt it wont load the songs that i want and is being dumb. Do you have to install and sign up for rhapsody inorder to enjoy the sansa fuze?

I got one about 3 days ago and it’s my first ‘official’ mp3. Before I was using my phone. I have to say, this being my first mp3 and all, I’m in total love with it. Its sound quality is awesome and the videos are clear. The only thing that bothered me about it was actually converting videos. It took to long to do, but when it was done, I was satisfied with it.
Better than an Ipod to me. In so many ways (my sister gets every latest Ipod).

You don’t need to install or sign up to rhapsody to load songs onto the Fuze. When you connect the Fuze to your computer it will show up as an extra device. There is a folder on the Fuze where you can copy music from your computer.

My fuze is one of the best tech decisions i’ve made! It’s my first mp3, and i am still trying to understand the filing system and why the folder “unknown” does not appear on my computer. It does not seem that i have as much control over the files and their placements as i would like. Otherwise, an awesome unit! I don’t leave home without it

My Sansa Fuze-4g charges, plays music and audiobooks but has no display AT ALL! I cant see photos, homepage, menus etc. IT is detected by my PC. I have tried updating the firmware, resetting the player, and deleting files to create free space (it was almost fu all but nothing seems to work. Every once in a while I would get a display for a brief time but then it would go blank agian…..AHHHHHHHH HALP!!!

Don,
Try doing another reset, but this time slide up and hold the power button for a much longer period, try 25 seconds and see if that makes any difference.
78 Don // Feb 1, 2010 at 11:50 pm
Well Dean,
Nothing seems to work. Did another reset holding the button up for a few more seconds like 30plus but there is still no change…It still plays the music but right now it just stays dark and the pause, Fast foward, rewind, all work…but you cant see what you are doing.
bummer,
Don

Some Tips if your Sansa isn’t recognized by your computer Put the slide button all the way down and restart your sansa hold the left button down on the keypad while it starts to sync. Your computer will recongnize it and sync together. Currently I’m having a problem converting Videos with Sansa Media Converter it only gets to 49% and stops for hours.

I think the Sansa Fuze is a great little MP3 player, but one aspect that is rarely mentioned is that it doesn’t manage large quantities of music very well.
I had 8Gb of music, about 1500 tracks, which was fine, but when I added an 8Gb micro sd card with a further 1500 tracks, things got annoying.
Firstly, it took forever to refresh and delete tracks, and seemed very slow responding to clicks. The bigger problem was that with so many artists and songs, sliding down a list took forever as it didn’t speed up at all. If I wanted something beginning with ‘t’ I had to search for about five minutes.
Also, the shuffle feeature only holds about 2000 tracks. Great for cardless users, but I had about 1,000 tracks I hardly ever heard, especially if the artist, track and genre began with letters anywhere after ‘r’. Very irritating. It also fails to show album artwork in any form
Although I loved the design, size and graphics with the Fuze, I gave in and bought an 80 Gb iPod. I wish I didn’t have to, but oh well.

Hello! I just got my Sansa Fuze yesterday, and have tried to download pictures and videos I have taken onto it, but each time I try it says “Unsupported Media Format”. How do I get it to put them onto it?

I’m a new Sansa Fuze owner and I have found your site very helpful. THank you.

I haven’t used my sansa fuze in a few years, i have a 8G.
I want to put my cd-rom spanish immersion on there. How do I do it? Do I upload it to my windows media player (Vista) and drag. I’d like to convert it to mp3 and drag it onto my fuze.
I do not know where any of my original paperwork/manuels are for this. Please advise.

I love it my Sansa Fuze Player, I have 1000 plus songs and 8 videos. The only think I don’t like is after charging it via USB and look for the “music” folder to start at the last song played, it won’t do it. I have to start listening to music from the beginning. It won’t start from the last song played.
