Darren, many thanks for your reply. I’m literally off to Spain in the morning for two weeks to watch the MotoGP so I’ve run out of time to investigate the Scala earphones. I’ll check them out when I return, currently I’m using just a set purchased from Maplins with no volume control. I’ll reply when I’m back.

Jim, what headset are you using ? There does seem to be some variation in reception . I purchased the one recommended on this site the scala rider which has a volume control setting of it’s own and I’ve had no problems. It may sound obvious but if you have spekers in the helmet consider where these are placed . Hope that helps a bit

Have just bought a zumo 550, while the package is good the biggest gripe I have is the sound through earphones. At any speed over 60 mph it’s virtually impossible to hear the instructions even with the voice turned up to 100%. Does anybody have any answers? Is there an engineer’s code to get into the software and increase the volue?

Heelo Dean. Zumo Delivered. Tested in Car . All went well. Very easy to use. As for the vespa the U bolt is too large to fit around the miror stem which would be ideal (shouldn’t Garmin supply fittings for scooters , scooters are everywhere now) As i Said before the GIVI velcro holder worked fine however the adddition of an adaptor that Ram do supply would have been welcome given it would have cost a few bob. Agree with the headset point you mentioned in the review. Investigating fitting to hand grip. Does anyone else think that TTS British emily sounds a bit grumpy ? It’s like have he wife next to me

Thanks Dean , I’m not sure it does you know ? I have bought it anyway , I’m planning to use the GIVI universal holder which is a well designed bit of kit if anyone is thinking of strapping one to a Vespa. I have a GTS 125 and it fits easily over the handle bar faring.

Great site and clear detailed reviews which are invaluable as is frequently the case the choices are mind boggling. Does any one know or have heard of a way of fitting a Zummo 550 or other to a vespa ? Many scooters are capablae of Motorway ravel etc nowadays , is this a neglected market ?

be aware that the m/cycle mount is not waterproof! the zumo is. I found this out when I rode the bike through a rain shower without the zumo in the cradle. Garmin will replace them, but I dont think it has been fixed. Also be aware of oxidisation of the electrical contacts on the Zumo and mount (shows as a green deposit).

Not many prices available currently, but around the £450-500 price mark is about right.
