Peter,
Since Sony no longer support these systems I'd suggest buying a new Garmin or TomTom system.

Hi Will,
My guess is there hasn't been any map updates since the U51 was released. Sony are also pulling out of the sat nav market from 2010 and support will be withdrawn, meaning no more map updates. So you are probably stuck with the maps you've got, having said that it should do a pretty good navigational job.

I think Sony offer replacements but last I heard they were about £40 which in my opinion is too expensive. You could try giving them a call.

The problem with the suction cup breaking is a common one. If you browse the U53 or U73 forums on this web site (see related articles section on this review) you will see similar comments.

Hi all,
I have had a sony NV U 51 for about four years now and am very happy with the unit. However, the suction cup and cradle has broken and is beyond repair. Does any one know where I can get a replacement? Any help would be much appresiated as I have many locations saved on my NV U51 and would like to get it back operating..safely!
