Hiya Barry (Sorry for misspelling your name mate!) Only thing I can suggest is to have a look at the site and forum form IGO?? I don’t go on that often but from what I remember the site was just heaving with info and people wanting to help?

Sorry I am not much use at present myself but am still recovering from some “lurgy” or other from before Christmas!! Now has anyone a cure fr that?

Hello again Chris I have 3 X N40i’s + 1 S90i and have got IGO loaded on an SD card on one N40i since last year. Whilst I can load a file of a new category of POi’s(csv of lat & long called Aires de Service) onto the Navman prog, I don’t know how to do the same on IGO. I have put the file onto the SD card and can see it through ‘my computer’ but don’t know how to get Igo to use it. I just put it onto the card not into a specific IGO folder, should I have done? A further question would be how do you load new categories of PO’Is onto IGO.
Don’t want to use up all your time but each answer you give me leads to more questions me sorry .

Hiya Barry and A very happy new year to you and yours too.
The best way to do this is to do a clean re-boot by connecting to the PC and then formatting the sd card via My Computer. Then do a total re-install of the files to use the n40i. I have had mine lock up at least three times now and so have actually removed all the files anyway, the system I use is as I stated (The screen entry is actually “iGO AMIGO”) And it outperforms the N40i mapping many times! In fact as the N40i system files are actually stored on ram in the unit I believe you can actually have this system on the one sd card and insert your Navman SD card to enjoy those maps should you wish to.
I bought mine from ebay as it was an end of line so not sure if you can still get it? BUT if you do need to track down a copy I would be more than happy to help you out. Contact me via the site please?

Chris, many thanks for your reply. I have s90i disc coming. But am still unable to load N40 i with the european maps, the desktop will not recognise the machine. Any tricks to force it into accepting them please?

Do you live in France if so which area? We are motorhomers and use the Aires de service ( brilliant!!! throughout France and want to up load their coordinates unto our machines)

Your suggestion re Navtec; is this using software on my existing Navman or buying a different system. Excuse the ignorance but can you point me to the first steps to get started.

Hiya Barry, sorry but been a bit under the weather of late but to reply to your questions, the software for the 90i I cannot help. Tried ebay??

The way to reset the software for the 40 is simply to reinstall it to the set via your desktop settings and disks.

Or like I did a while ago get your self some software which DOES work! Garmin who now own the Navman name I believe? Or whoever it is are far from friendly and that is an understated feeling too! I now personally use NAVTEC software, you lose some of the functionality of the set BUT the mapping is second to none and upgrades are free! Good luck

Hi Everyone, I have 2 queries one is I bought an S90i in August ( whilst still having 2 N40i’s) and my wife threw out the Smartdesc disc in error.) I have now found that the 2006 (N40i)disc will not allow accesss to S90. Can anyone help please.Navman want a further £15 I am happy to pay around £5+ postage. Secondly how do you ‘reset software’ on N40 please.

Hi, may I just say ONE thing?? Buy a Tom TOM at you haste and repent at your leisure!!! Here in France the Tom Tom cannot find ANTHING other than town centeres and even thenm not well!!

TRY instead buying a set of maps for the N40i from AMIGO!! I did and have NEVER looked back!! OR get a set of the 207 maps!! The 2006 ones yes they are CRUD!!

Hi I have the Navman N40i and it is driving me mad ever since I had it. I am trying to get my maps updated but can find every Namvan but the N40i. Can you believe a GPS can get you lost, well this did, taking me down roads where cars are not allowed – I have actually been stopped by the police because it took me down a road that I was not meant to be in – to be honest I find this quite dangerous. If anyone know how to download updated maps without having to pay £99 do let me know. Otherwise it looks like I will have to get a TomTom for which the reviews seem good.

Sorry Harvey it is YOUR end!! I just tried it and it works??

Have a look at the site and there is a small envelope to the top right. Click and it will open an email in your email outbox. I use gmail and so it opens gmail, if you use outlook it will or should do the same? OR try googling me?
