I came across this interesting Google Ad on my web site. It looks like a video. I didn’t click on the advert but I thought it was a clever idea. It certainly catches your eye more than the traditional text link ads.
Here is a screenshot I took. Anyone else seen these types of ad recently and what happens when you click on them?

One of my websites is a travel site for Puerto Vallarta – http://www.insidepv.com – the site is undergoing a makeover, but the many video ads by Google make nice eye-candy. Plus, nearly every person that comes across them, clicks. I haven’t seen them myself, but I’ve heard there are a few seconds of hotel-tours and local attractions. -brilliantjeni

I’ve seen an increase in clicks recently too. I presume it is the video ads that are performing well.

Hmmm… the video ads went away for a week and clicks went down simultaneously. They obviously work well. I may do some testing with a few other sites and put some numbers together for adclickology.com. The publicist in me is itching to throw that news release out there for potential advertisers to consider more video ads
Keep up the great work Dean!

Thanks for the comments Jeni.
I too have noticed a reduction in video ads recently, although I did spot quite a few on your site today
There seems to be an increase in Low Cost Per Click ads on my site recently even though I’m trying to blacklist such sites using a competitive ad filter. Although today is seeing better figures so maybe it was just a blip?
