With the release of Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn now less than a week away, the next release of Ubuntu 7.10 has been announced, dubbed The Gutsy Gibbon.
The Gutsy Gibbon release schedule shows a release date of 18th October 2007.
The Gutsy Gibbon will come in two flavours, once of which will appeal to the ultra-orthodox Linux afficionados, this flavour will stipulate that every aspect of the platform be truly “free” and “open source”.
Gutsy will also focus on ease of deployment, making it possible to perform un-attended installs across multiple machines. There is also a hint of taking forward some of the work done in the Beryl and Compiz communities and rolling it into Gutsy.
More details of the Gutsy requirements will be hammered out at a developer summit in Spain during May.
Back to the present now and we have the release of Feisty Fawn to look forward to shortly. I plan to upgrade my Ubuntu Edgy Eft machine to Feisty within a week or two of the release, and will blog about my experiences with the upgrade later on this month.
